Being that Cusco has an altitude of 11,200 feet, some visitors experience mild symptoms of altitude sickness or "soroche". These symptoms can include headache, nausea, and dizziness. Before your travel and on the arrival day itself drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages. With this in mind please arrive a day before the New Years Eve Welcome Party if possible.

While Uber is common in Lima, it is not in Cusco. Be sure to have soles with you and remember as gringos we are susceptible to getting ripped off. If you don't want to get ripped off don't pay more than 10 soles, everything is very close in Cusco!
Like any other place, it can be dangerous. It can be a really safe space as long as you take the proper measures to stay safe. Please stay in the tourist areas, these are safe and thousands of people visit every year. Always be mindful of your surroundings and your belongings, especially in crowded areas. Keep your bags and phones in front of you if possible. It will be a holiday weekend and Cusco is crazy busy with families from all over.
