Calvin had planned a backpacking trip to Spectacle Lake near Cle Elum Washington. On the hike up to the mountain-top lake there was a waterfall that Breylin wanted to jump in to cool off. While Breylin started to climb down under the bridge to reach the waterfall Calvin dug the ring out of his backpack. Calvin soon joined Breylin in the waterfall, which was the first time either had swam under a waterfall. When the two were done swimming and Breylin started to put on her gear and admire the valley view Calvin came up behind her and asked her to marry him.
