Lihue
About an hour. Traffic can be a bit heavy from Lihue to Kapaa but then it lightens up usually.
We booked our rental from February 17-24. Come for as many days as you can and hopefully it will align with our days also!
Yes, you will definitely need a rental car for staying on the North Shore and sightseeing in the area.
February has average temps between 72 and 78 degrees and the chance of rain on any given day is 17%. It will most likely rain some while we are there but you will find the north shore very lush and beautiful from the amount of rainfall they receive. Rainbows and waterfalls are abundant. South shore beaches are only an hour away if you’re seeking more sun one day.
Yes! When looking for lodging, make sure to message the owner/manager before you book. Often they can have different ways to pay etc that can save you $$ from the initial quote you get online. They advertise on VRBO but often you can deal direct and not pay some of the extra fees. Also, read reviews. You can learn a lot from other people’s experiences. Another thing to look at is whether they provide beach gear like chairs, surfboards, bikes, or snorkeling gear. What is included can be worth a lot!
