Mason and I met at Covington High School after I moved from Niceville, Florida to Covington, LA in 2010. I had him in a couple classes before I really knew who he was, but we didn't actually start really talking to each other until junior year. I was on dance team and he was on drumline, so we'd see each other at band practice every now and then. We texted back and forth for a while as we got to know each other better. He eventually got up the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend while I was waiting for the bus to take me home after school January 24, 2013 and I very excitedly said "yes" :) We both got our high school degrees and headed to LSU together. Fast forward 8 years later and we're happier and stronger than ever!
Christmas Day 2020 was one I'll never forget. It was a nice, slow start to the day since it was the first time not waking up at 7:00am to open presents with my family. We had done Christmas with my family the year before (switching off years with the fams), I wasn't planning on seeing them so I facetimed them that morning and wished them a good rest of their day. It was just supposed to be Mason and I all day and then we would meet up at Mason's parents' house for Christmas dinner. I was able to get ready with no stress since we didn't have to meet them until the evening. Once we were in the car on the way to Covington from Baton Rouge, it was a mostly quiet ride besides listening to music while we held hands. I kind of had the feeling it was a special night once I got to his house since it was really spotlessly cleaned and decorated with really twinkly lights. He proposed to me in their prettily lit backyard, I said yes! He told me to turn back to the porch and to my surprise: my family was standing up there with his family:) Then we ate dinner and drank some bubbly! It was a truly beautiful night and one I'll always appreciate.
