People say you are always exactly where you need to be. For us that meant we both needed to travel a million miles from home to find each other in New York. We dated, we holidayed, I (Brett) learnt the awesome power of Madina’s table tennis skills and that my own were not as date-worthy impressive as I hoped. We shared the time old words ‘I love you’ both sober and drunk and realized we meant it. Then we put our love to the test by navigating a year-long lockdown together while the world went crazy. Netflix became our truest friend. Christmas is our favorite time together. We celebrated Madina’s first ever Christmas with a magnificent tree, a horde of presents and a gluttony of food. It is when we truly fell in love with each other - so fast forward a year and that was the moment for a surprise proposal…
Now I’m not saying I (Brett) am punching above my weight - I’ve put on a fair bit of weight I’ll have you know. Nevertheless, this seemed to be the general consensus from our friend committee, so I knew if Madina was to accept a guy like me what this needed was miraculous... what this needed was ROMANCE… or alternatively a desolate environment in case of failure to hide the evidence. Planning for this in the middle of a pandemic is challenging – but he who dares! Que Vermont Snowboarding trip and a sleigh ride in the mountains to a secret hideaway. Perfect! It was a fairytale setting. Snow falling, crisp mountains, a beautiful lady and a custom-made ring carefully hidden in between the thermal layers. With a speech I forgot within 2 seconds and nerves at fraying point I asked, and she said yes. Seven months later and we are blessed to share this event with you all and include you all in our story.
