We meet at Fort Hays State University and started dating August 18th, 2021. Brett is a local farmer in the Trego and Graham area in Kansas. He farms with his father on their family farm which celebrated 100 years. Ibby is from Garden City, KS and moved to be a teacher at Hill City Grade School. She is currently in her first year of teaching and is teaching first grade.

On the evening of June 10th, Brett took Ibby to go check cows in the same pasture he had asked her to be his girlfriend. The couple checked cows and sat on the end of the tail gate laughing and watching the sun go down. Brett left for a minute and Ibby made a joke saying “are you gonna propose?” and when she looked over there he was on one knee! She said YES!
