With everything shut down the summer activities mainly consisted of going out on the lake with friends and attending parties at the shack. This is where Liz first saw Brett, right on Lake Champlain around Isle La Motte. After they met, Liz and Brett spent endless time together doing the activities one could during the thick of covid shutdowns, from camping at flat rock, pick up soccer, drive-in movies and many late nights at the shack on the water. Fast forward three years later and this summer fling turned into living together, attending concerts and sporting events, and traveling the world together.
After traveling to Hawaii, Chicago, and Nashville, Brett wanted to check off his 6th continent... South America. Liz hesitantly obliged not knowing what to expect. The goal of this trip was to get to Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world. Turns out it was not as easy to get to as expected. The entire trip included a 9 hour flight to Lima, 2 hour flight to the ancient city of Cusco, 2 hour Uber ride to Ollayntantambo, a two hour train ride (that was twice cancelled) winding through the Andes Mountains and followed lastly by a steep bus ride up to the top of Machu Picchu. Even though it was considered the rainy season in the month of February for the area, Brett and Liz got a beautiful sunny day for their proposal. Unfortunately, Brett was so nervous that he pulled the trigger too early and proposed before the clouds had the chance to clear the view, which they did about 30 minutes later, the nerves also didn't allow Brett to get a single word out of his mouth when he got down on one knee... fortunately Liz knew what he meant and accepted the ring. The past 4 years have been a whirlwind of adventure and laughter and we would like to commemorate all of our memories with you at our wedding on August 31st.
