Whether you're staying close to Dulles Airport, visiting D.C. or venturing further into Virginia, we have recommendations for everyone. Here are a few of our favorite local spots.
National Mall
Washington, DC
If you decide to venture into D.C., there's no shame in being a tourist at the National Mall, where you can visit the monuments and several free Smithsonian museums.
National Zoo
3001 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20008
The National Zoo is one of our favorite places in D.C. — entry is free, and its the best place to walk around if the weather is nice. Don't miss the pandas, and pro tip: animals are most active in the morning!
Lauriol Plaza
1835 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
Lauriol Plaza is our go-to date night spot in D.C. They have the best margaritas in town — we recommend the strawberry-lime swirl.
Stone Tower Winery
19925 Hogback Mountain Road, Leesburg, VA 20175
Northern Virginia has an incredible selection of wineries to visit. Stone Tower has some of our favorite wines and the prettiest views. We also love Fabbioli and Paradise Springs.
Kramers
1517 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20036
This local bookstore is a D.C. classic. It's always fun to explore or drop in for a bite to eat at the Kramers restaurant located inside the store.
Great Falls
9200 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA 22102
A series of rapids and waterfalls along the Potomac River, Great Falls is a great place for a pretty straight-forward hike with nice views.
Leesburg Premium Outlets
241 Fort Evans Road Northeast, Leesburg, VA 20176
For any last-minute shopping needs, the Leesburg Outlet Mall has a wide selection and isn't far from local dining and shopping in Downtown Leesburg.
Bear Chase Brewing Company
33665 Bear Chase Lane, Bluemont, VA 20135
One of many local breweries, Bear Chase has plentiful outdoor seating and gorgeous views. For other options around NoVA, we also love Crooked Run, Ocelot, Solace and Vanish.
Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center
14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151
The Udvar-Hazy Center is the Dulles wing of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Only 5 minutes from the Hilton, it displays historic aviation and space artifacts. (Note: You have to pay to park at this museum.)
One Loudoun
20626 Easthampton Plaza, Ashburn, VA 20147
For conveniently located shopping and dining, we recommend One Loudoun. It's less than 15 minutes away from the Hilton hotel block and has a wide variety of restaurant options and a movie theater.
