How we met

5.28.17

It was love at first...swipe... yeahhhhh, I wish it was more romantic than that, but we are that couple that met through social media! I actually saw Brett's profile first and thought he was WAY too good looking to ever want to talk to me, so I made the first move and sent him a message first. To my surprise- he messaged me back and we talked nonstop for a couple of days before he asked for my number. Brett was in the police academy in Richmond, and I had just graduated from EKU, so he became my go to person to talk through job interview stresses, while I became his escape from high intensity training. After a couple weeks of getting to know each other through phone calls, and text messages, Brett asked me out on a date. He picked me up on my doorstep and took me to dinner and putt putt golf. Brett was pretty smooth and made a bet that the loser of the game had to kiss the other person... well I lost, but there was NO WAY I was making the first move (again!). So I argued all the way to the jeep and was stubbornly refusing that I lost the game to avoid making the move. I guess Brett was tired of hearing my excuses, so he shut me up pretty quick :) We officially became a couple about a month later when Brett asked me to be his girlfriend on one of our hiking trips. Fast forward to the next summer when we confessed our love for each other in the middle of the pouring rain while Brett Eldredge sang "Mean to Me" and the rest is history!

The Proposal

7.17.19

From the day we were officially a couple, I casually asked Casey what her favorite flower was. She replied saying that she adored sunflowers. Every month on the tenth day, I always bought Casey sunflowers. I continue doing this on the present day. It was extremely easy to fall in love with Casey, and that feeling came on very early for me. I played it cool hoping she wouldn't think things were moving too fast, but I had prayed for a woman like her for a long time. I loved every second with her and always wanted time to stop when we were together. My family is a close bunch, and my mom and dad always asked me about the relationships I was in. They would ask, "is this the one?" and i would always say, "it could be, I don't know." With Casey though, I just knew it in my heart. I believed God gave me her. My dad even said that he hoped I could get as lucky as him, and I told him I believed I was luckier. On her sister Taylor's birthday, their father took us to an amazing sunflower field. I knew this was the place. I nervously asked David if I could marry Casey, and after I did, he just stood there and smiled at me. He then gave me a hug and told me that I absolutely could. On the big day, I conspired with my sister to make a fake event that Casey and I could go to to support her 4H Club. This day was the same date a year ago when we visited the sunflower field the first time. Unbeknownst to Casey, both of our entire families were coming to this big event. On the way to the field, I stopped in a drive way and asked Casey if she trusted me. Confused, she replied that she trusted me no matter what. I then blindfolded her and continued to the rendezvous. I saw everyone was there and then my feet got shaky. I wasn't nervous, I was excited to ask this wonderful woman to marry me. Casey took the blindfold off and said yes and she jumped into my arms. I was on top of the world. It was the most perfect day.
