Dear friends and family, The situation with COVID-19 seems to be changing daily. As of right now, we are still planning on having our wedding in September; however, the number of guests we are allowed to have in the venue is fluid and subject to change. We are working with our venue and vendors to make sure that we are doing everything in as safe a manner as possible. For more information on specific COVID-19 precautions please check the FAQ page. Please keep checking our website for any changes, we look forward to seeing you in September! Mary & Brett
It was 2014. Mary was in her second year of medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Brett was in his second year of emergency medicine residency, also at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Despite spending the majority of their waking hours within a tenth of a mile of each other, they did not meet in the hospital. Brett saw Mary's photo on OKCupid and sent her a thoughtful message. She didn't respond for several weeks, but it eventually led to a first date! They ate sushi and talked for hours, surprised to find how much they had in common. They bonded over their favorite parts of Chicago, a mutual love of craft beer, and the unrelenting joys of medical training.
It was a crisp autumn afternoon. They had just flown into Nevada and after a winding drive, arrived at Lake Tahoe. The night before, Brett had a nightmare that TSA exposed the hidden ring under suspicion of transporting stolen goods. The day before that, Mary had her nails painted pink, just in case. Brett, concerned about approaching rainclouds, chose a short hike on Mount Martis. On a scenic overlook, he got down on one knee and asked Mary to be his wife. She said yes! They then proceeded to celebrate, calling family and friends to share the good news and sipping the fanciest champagne they could find.
