Andy asked Cassie to be his girlfriend in the halls of their high school. It was a few weeks after they met at the Sadies Hawkins dance with different dates. They were 15, ending their freshman year with no clue what was to come. After graduation, they decided to pursue their career aspirations at UW Whitewater and UW Milwaukee and began to build roots and friendships in different communities. Their two worlds collided every couple of weeks during their four years of college, and their love flourished. It was at the age of 22 they decided they would never live in different cities again. After earning bachelor's degrees, they moved back to Rockford, where they lived and worked for three and a half years with the love and support of their families nearby. He was a Data Center Technician, and she was a Multimedia Journalist. At the age of 25, they went on a weekend stroll at Sinnissippi Gardens. It was a park they would go to often, but this time proved to be different than the rest and would mark the start of their next journey. Surrounded by trees blooming in the spring, Andy anxiously got down on one knee and asked Cassie to marry him. She exclaimed, "Right now," as she couldn't believe this moment was happening a week before their 10-year anniversary.
