Our Story We don’t believe in coincidences anymore, especially when it comes to how we met. Looking back, we know it was God’s work. In 2017, we found ourselves sitting just one row apart at Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Eric, in his usual spot. Brent, right behind him. Eric noticed Brent immediately with his warmth, kindness, and, let’s be honest, that cutie face. And, of course, Eric introduced himself. That’s just who he is. From that first conversation, there was an ease, an unspoken connection. Then, one Sunday, we found ourselves in the same meeting. More conversations followed. A friendship grew, one that deepened through shared moments, laughter, and challenges. Brent stood by Eric even when he didn’t know how to ask for help. Our bond strengthened, but we both knew there was something more. Then came June 2019. Our first kiss. In Eric’s driveway. We were nervous, but we knew this was different. And yet, no matter how much we cared for each other, God’s plan wasn’t quite ready. After nine months, we took a break. Life happened. We grew, separately. Eric recommitted his life to Christ, healing, and walking a new path. Even apart, we never stopped cheering for each other, always holding space for what might be. Then, in August 2022, something changed. Brent let Eric in more. Our story wasn’t finished. By December, Brent invited Eric to a comedy play. Then, the next night, a movie. Eric was nervous, but when he asked if he could put his arm around Brent, Brent curled into him, just like he still does today. That moment? We both knew. This time, we weren’t just starting over—we were building something to last. No rush, no questioning, just love, finally ready in God’s time. Then, in 2024, the United Methodist Church made history, affirming love like ours. And we knew marriage was in our future. Eric called Brent’s parents, who listened, supported, and showed love in ways that words can’t fully capture. On June 30, 2024, in NYC, while DJing a Sober Gay Pride event, Eric proposed. Brent had no idea, but his family and best friend did. Everything in our love story has been about timing. And this time, the timing was right. Love Is Patient. From a church pew in 2017 to the life we’ve built in 2025. From two nervous guys in a driveway to two men who know, this love is forever. We waited for each other. And now, we never have to wait again. We can’t wait to share this special day with all of you as we begin the next chapter of Our Story.
