Question

Why Friday?!

Answer

The first question most people have asked when we tell them our wedding date is, "why did you choose a Friday!?" We know you have to take time off from your jobs to come share this day with us and for that we want to say a huge "thank you!" We've been to Thursday and Friday weddings and truly valued the opportunity to turn each of these events into a mini-vacation. We really hope that you'll take the time to enjoy our wedding, explore our city, and use this as an excuse for a long weekend to meet new people and reconnect with those you love.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says "and Guest", then yes. If not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love your children - we really do! However, we want our wedding to be your night off! Unless otherwise stated on your invitation, please organize a babysitter and let your hair down for the night!

Question

Why won't the website let me RSVP?

Answer

If you were provided with a plus one ("and Guest"), you are required to fill in a name, even if you will not be using the plus one, when you RSVP on the website. Please feel free to fill in the name "None None" or something creative of your choosing.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have two hotel blocks, one at the downtown Crown Plaza and one at the Courtyard Marriott on the north side of the city. As a huge convention city, Indy has a lot of great options; however, our wedding is the same weekend as a couple large conferences, so hotel space is limited for the weekend of our wedding. If you really want to dive into the city we love, check out AirBnB and search for homes in the Broad Ripple, Irvington, Fountain Square, Cottage Homes, Woodruff Place, Mass Ave, and the Kennedy-King neighborhoods in Indianapolis.

Question

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We are asking that our guests help us have a completely unplugged ceremony. Our wedding is not just a special moment for us, it's a holy sacrament in the Episcopal Church and we ask that all of our guests respect the sanctity of the service. We've hired a photographer and videographer to record the entire service for us. We ask that you keep your phones in your purses and pockets, be in the moment, and not block any of their work. If anyone desires photos or video from the day, we'll be more than happy to share.

Question

Can I take photos at the reception?

Answer

Please, please do! And please share them with us! We have Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Our wedding hashtag is #luebckesINlove

Question

What can I expect from an Episcopalian wedding service?

Answer

If you've been to a Catholic wedding service or watched the recent royal weddings, you can have some idea of what to expect. There are hymns, readings, a homily from a priest, and the traditional vows and exchanging of rings. There's some standing, kneeling, and sitting, but don't worry the program will guide you through the calisthenics, and there's even modifications for those with limited mobility.

Question

What should I do if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

We have tried to be conscientious in providing vegetarian and gluten free options for our guests. If you have other concerns, feel free to reach out to the bride and groom and we'll see what we can do to accommodate.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

We are registered at Crate and Barrel and Zola.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We'd recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. The cathedral is a historic church with pew boxes and you'll need to be seated by our ushers.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We'd prefer that you wear cocktail or formal attire. The bridal party will be in tuxedos and floor length, formal dresses. It's July in Indiana, so weather is likely to be hot, hot, hot and we hope everyone will be dancing the night away with us, so wear comfortable shoes!

Question

What should I do in between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

We’d recommend checking out Rocket Fizz for soda and sweets, Starbucks for coffee, or Nicky Blaine’s for cocktails and cigars, if you want to hang out on the circle. If you’d prefer to head to the reception site, there is Provision, a local coffee shop with outdoor patio space, on the first floor of the building that houses Tinker House Events.
