Abby and Brennon first laid eyes on each other during choir practice one day at Alma College in the fall of 2019. **WELL, actually not entirely true… we should say that’s when Abby first REMEMBERS their story beginning. They actually took a Spanish class together the previous semester, and Abby embarrassingly had no recollection of this, despite Brennon being one of 2 boys in the class.** Even though they saw each other at rehearsals everyday, neither was brave enough to approach the other. Abby was too in awe by the fact that there was a cute boy in choir, as this was a rare occurrence. Their first encounter was at a small house party. After a few drinks, their confidence was THRIVING. Abby showed off her insane vocals by serenading Brennon to Gucci Flip Flops by Bhad Bhabie. Brennon insisted Abby sounded just like her and encouraged her to sing louder. Abby really liked that. Now that they had finally had their first interaction, they were a little less shy during rehearsals. Abby distinctly remembers a rehearsal where they sat next to each other (on purpose), and she immediately messaged Brooke (maid of honor) freaking out that she was ACTUALLY talking to him. At the next party that they both attended, they noticed each other right away. Abby was way too nervous to say hello, despite the liquid courage in her hand, so she made Brooke go over to Brennon to gage his interest. Of course, he was very interested, and so he approached Abby and they started playing a classic party game together, beer pong. Upon losing horribly, they took a seat on the couch and began talking. Deep in conversation, they didn’t notice that everyone had left the room, leaving just the two of them on the couch. Brennon decided to seize this moment (thank god), marking Abby and Brennon’s first kiss ❤️ There was literal cheering from outside of the room and the first seeds of their relationship had been planted.

This story needs to start about 4 months BEFORE the engagement, when Brennon decided to buy the engagement ring. After ordering the ring, he immediately came home and said to Abby, “HEHE, GUESS WHAT I BOUGHT”. So now Abby knew that he bought the ring and was worried he was about to tell her everything. However, after that moment, Brennon NEVER spoke about it again. Now, fast forward to the week of the engagement. It was during the holidays. Luckily they went to Abby’s house first to visit her family. When Abby went out to lunch with Kotomi (Bridesmaid), Brennon asked Abby’s parents for her hand in marriage. They were thrilled and excited to welcome another son (thank god, because the boys were out numbered) into the family. They then went to spend a full week with Brennon’s family out in Pennsylvania for New Years. Abby was constantly bringing up an engagement because she hoped that Brennon would do it on the trip. But Brennon wanted to make it a big surprise, so he decided that the perfect time to ask was when they got back to Michigan after their long week trip (Abby wouldn’t expect anything after a long car ride home from Pennsylvania). Brennon wanted to propose to Abby at the Grand Haven pier, so he devised a plan to ‘meet with his uncle’ there for photographs before going to dinner at his grandmothers house. They drove out and were “patiently waiting for his uncle to take some pier photos”. Abby was just so confused why they had to be out there in the freezing cold. Brennon grabbed Abby's arm and told her that they should walk out by the water. Reluctantly, Abby went with it, cursing that she worse her slides in the snow. When they reached the water, Abby turned away, and Brennon had the perfect opportunity to surprise Abby and ask her to marry him! As he knelt onto one knee, Abby turned around and said "Uhhhh what are you doing?!". All that was unplanned were huge waves crashing onto the pier (which ended up soaking Brennon’s knee in the kneeling process, and making the situation a little more chilly than expected), but Brennon succeeded in his surprise and Abby said yes!
