My sophomore year of high school, I was a teacher’s aide for an AP chemistry class. And this guy, Brennan, was one of the 8 people in the class, and hard to miss. Within just a few weeks of being in the same room as him, it was easy to tell that he was genuine, kind, so smart, & had the most infectious laugh. He was a senior, so I thought there was no chance. But one day, a friend who had more faith than I did, talked me into reaching out to him anyways (... via twitter). I will forever be thankful for that push. While I do believe the Lord would have made sure those stars aligned eventually anyway, I am happy I didn’t have to wait another day. On our first date, he took me to a scary movie, which was wasn't my thing (but I would have watched grass grow with him). After the movie, he asked if I’d mind going to a thrift store with him to look for something, then we ran into a Chinese super market, & finished the date with a trip to taco bell (scary movies, thrifting, Chinese food, & taco bell, I had no clue he was showing me all his favorite things in 1 date). Some may think “hmm some first date?” But, after I got home, all I could think was how easy it felt, how much fun we had, & how I could only hope that we got to keep doing literally anything together. He was so intentional at trying to spend time with me, meeting my friends & family, or asking me to meet his. The next 6 years consisted of us growing together, encouraging each other as we worked towards our goals, developing the best group of friends, creating the sweetest family with our pups (Nala & Charlie), & loving one another through all things. So, when Brennan asked me to marry him, there was no real question, because we both knew the answer was yes. Now that we have both entered the “real world,” we couldn’t be more thankful that we get to spend the rest of forever with one another, loving and caring for each other well, being best friends, supporting each others dreams, and doing it all so willingly.
