Jesse and Brenna grew up just fifteen minutes apart. He was a three-sport athlete at North Muskegon, and she was the principal’s daughter at Mona Shores. Looking back, they had countless chances to cross paths through mutual friends and shared zip codes, but their story didn’t officially begin until later. After graduating high school in 2019, Jesse went on to Hope College to play football, while Brenna graduated in 2020 and pursued a degree in Elementary Education. In the spring of 2021, mutual friends finally introduced the two of them. That summer, while both were home in Muskegon working summer jobs, Jesse quickly asked Brenna out. She was hesitant at first, unsure of where things might lead, but after a few months, the foundation was set for something special. When the school year began-Jesse’s junior year and Brenna’s sophomore year-they grew closer. Jesse introduced Brenna to his teammates, and she introduced him to her sorority sisters. It didn’t take long for everyone to see what they already felt: they were a perfect match. Their families agreed, and on October 5, 2021, at Tunnel Park, Jesse asked Brenna to be his girlfriend. Over the next four years, they shared football games, sorority formals, tailgates, graduations, and the start of their careers. They became inseparable. On August 9, 2025, Jesse planned the perfect proposal. With Brenna’s college girlfriends visiting, she didn’t suspect a thing. He surprised her on her childhood beach, turning a place already full of memories into one that now holds their favorite one. What started with mutual friends and a little hesitation has grown into a love rooted in faith, laughter, and commitment. They are so thankful for the Lord’s hand in their relationship and can’t wait to begin forever together.
