Murder, Pancakes, and No Response

They met at a friend's murder mystery party their first year of college. She played an Egyptian goddess and he played the guitar as entertainment. After some good strong performances they did what any group of college kids do on Halloween night, go to IHOP at 12am for all you can eat pancakes. Fast forward to 2014, Valentine’s Day was approaching and he was finally going to ask her out on a date. Well that is if she had shown up for class that day... She had accidentally taken too long of a nap and missed Mythology. Awaking from her slumber, she saw a text on her phone from him. She was so excited yet confused. Frantically asking Josh “What do you know?!?” and rolling around on the floor, she forgot to text him back. Two long hours later, and one legendary nap down, Brenna & Devin decided to start their adventure together.

Glove Me!!!

When the time came for me to propose to Brenna, I thought back to one of my fondest memories that we share. During our time at school, a blizzard came howling through and ended up shutting down the entirety of Uptown Charlotte. With the streets completely abandoned and a winter wonderland awaiting us, our huge friend group made our way down to Romare Bearden Park, located in the middle of the city. While on our way to the park, Brenna had mentioned that her hands were cold, so I offered her my gloves. With the snow falling, all my friends around me, I began to concoct an idea. I had been trying to figure out how I was going to ask Brenna out on a date and I felt like today was the day. At the top of my lungs I yelled, “Brenna, Love me!” All heads turned and I was so embarrassed I quickly stated “Glove me, give me my gloves.” No one realized what I had actually said until seven years later when I finally told Brenna over our anniversary dinner. I’m pretty sure she would have punched me if she wasn’t laughing so hard! Though we had moved away from Charlotte I wanted to recreate that moment for her, for real this time. On May 23, 2021, in the middle of Dorothea Dix Park, with the same pair of gloves I finally asked Brenna to “Glove Me” forever.
