Brenna and Darin had talked about taking that next step for many months, but the time wasn't right. On December 23, Brenna’s birthday, they took the day to celebrate. They went to Joplin for a day of shopping and dining. While shopping they both talked about looking at rings. After looking at a few rings, Brenna came across the one. Darin took note and knew it wasn’t going to be easy to purchase this ring without Brenna knowing. They went home that night happy and excited and Darin began the process of artfully purchasing the ring without Brenna knowing. After many phone calls, Darin was holding the ring in his hand. To throw Brenna off, Darin told a little lie and said that the store sold the ring and it wasn’t available online; hook line and sinker! After calling her dad for permission, March 16th was the day; that Saturday will be a day to remember. Brenna had a little cold that day, so they questioned canceling their date, but she is so happy that they didn’t. As Brenna was getting ready, Darin had already placed everything in its right place and was waiting for Brenna to come out. As she came out of the bedroom, she made her way to the kitchen as Darin was patiently waiting to ask the question that they both wanted. As she was reading the card that Darin thoughtfully wrote, he got down on one knee to ask the question. As Darin was bending down, Brenna grabbed Darin’s arm with her right hand as if he were falling. As Darin pulled the ring out, Brenna let out the biggest smile and told Darin, “You have the wrong hand.” Darin smiled and said, “I know but you need to let go of my arm.” That day will forever be etched in their hearts. Then they went and ate pizza and drank beer 😊.
