ZoomLink: https://cmu.zoom.us/j/9855462233 Meeting ID: 985 546 2233 In light of the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic we have opted to postpone our in-person wedding reception until it is safe for family and friends to travel for our celebration. In the meantime we will be getting sealed in the Houston, TX temple with our parents on August 8th, 2020 at 10:30 am. Because of the sacred nature of our marriage ceremony in the temple we can't broadcast it online, so we will be having a ring ceremony later that day to include our family and friends via Zoom! Please join us at 4:00 pm on August 8th, 2020 for a virtual ring ceremony where we will be exchanging rings and expressing our vows to one another. We look forward to celebrating with everyone virtually before we are able to in person!
We met through a dating app (something that we both thought would NEVER happen!), and the rest is history! Swiping up turned into long texting conversations, which turned into hours on facetime, which turned into the best in person date ever! Brenna fell for Chace after trying his homemade green sauce, and Chace was a goner when he saw Brenna's hazel eyes. An unexpected meeting turned into the best thing that's happened thus far in our lives, and we're excited to celebrate with y'all!
Chace took me out to brunch the morning of the proposal at a cute and trendy restaurant called "Pig in a Jelly Jar" on the main street of Ogden. We had a late night the night before, so I was tired (I'm definitely not a morning person!), but I remember Chace was oddly awake and energetic! After brunch we walked around the shops on the street and then decided to go up into the mountains to go for a hike. On the way up to what I thought was the beginning of the hike I was having a hard time staying awake (again- not a morning person!) while Chace made a feeble attempt to keep me up by pointing out the beautiful mountain views during our drive. After a while we came up to a lookout off the main road and Chace suggested that we stop and take a look at the view. We walked through the snow (which was a solid 2 feet deep!) and came up to a beautiful gazebo backed with a snowy mountain view. While walking up to the lookout I noticed a sign out of the corner of my eye and when I turned to look at it I noticed that it read "Will You Marry Me Brenna?" and 2 dozen red roses right next to it! To say I was shocked would be an understatement! I started saying loudly...."ARE YOU ABOUT TO PROPOSE?! CHACE.....ARE WE ABOUT TO GET ENGAGED?!". When I finally let Chace talk he told me the reasons that he wanted to marry me and why he loved, pulled out a beautiful diamond ring, got on one knee, and proposed! Spoiler alert....I SAID YES! It was a perfect way to start our forever!
It was an early start to our day! We had already planned to leave early for breakfast, but I woke up even earlier to work with my Mom on decorating a banner for the proposal and getting some last details planned. I took Brenna to breakfast at Pig in a Jelly Jar on 25th street in Ogden, UT and the nerves were already setting in! It was all I could do to try to be as casual and normal as possible, but I know I have a horrible poker face sometimes. We ate breakfast while my Mom took my younger brothers with her to set up the site for the proposal. It was a hearty meal with more food than we bargained for! During breakfast, my Mom texted me saying she needed more time, but that wasn't hard because Brenna had already seen a shop or two on the way to the restaurant she wanted to visit. After buying time in a couple of shops, I drove Brenna around Weber State University, where I had just finished my undergrad in summer 2019. I was still trying to keep my cool, and I think I was doing pretty good at it! We had been planning on going on a "mini-hike" for a couple of days, so we drove through Ogden Canyon and enjoyed the snow-covered views all through it....or at least I did. She was in and out of sleep the whole time! She couldn't be sleepy when I was about to propose to her!! In a feeble attempt to keep her awake, I repeatedly kept pointing things out for her to see which was met by a tired "Oh yeah, that's nice" after which she again closed her eyes. When we got to the overlook, we got out of the car and walked towards a pavilion in 3 feet of snow! As we approached, she saw the side of a banner and said "That's weird." When she saw it said "Will You Marry Me, Brenna?" on it with roses beneath it, she pieced it together. "ARE YOU ABOUT TO PROPOSE!? ARE WE GETTING ENGAGED!?!?" I had to interject in her excitement "Yes, but you need to let me talk first!" I told her the reasons I wanted to marry her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry me! She answered "YES!"
