Scott and Brenli met during the fall of 2016 at Oklahoma State University. Brenli was a freshman, while Scott was a Junior. The two made their first encounter when her sorority and his fraternity were paired for the annual Greek Fundraiser "Freshman Follies." Brenli was selected to be in the cast and Scott was one of her cast directors. One of the main rules for the freshman girls was "to not date or talk to a director." Naturally, this made them both more interested. Unfortunately, the connection wasn't immediate and months went by with no interaction. Fall passed and the two remained only acquaintances. But on December 2nd, while Brenli was with her friends, it was mentioned that there was a birthday party going on for Scott Dobrinski. Brenli's friends urged her to tell him Happy Birthday, so she sent him a message. Little did she know that the "birthday party" was actually a surprise party for his 21st birthday and that his real birthday wasn't until December 18th. He replied and told her thank you, but that it wasn't actually his birthday yet. He continued by saying that if she wanted to tell him on December 18th, here was his number. Thankfully the surprise wasn't ruined and the two messaged back and forth for weeks after! Scott and Brenli officially started dating on February 17th, 2017 in Austin, Texas.
Knowing that their 3 year anniversary was coming up, Brenli and Scott decided to plan a weekend trip to Oklahoma City together. Brenli would plan Friday and Sunday's events, while Scott would plan Saturday and Monday, which happened to be their 3 year anniversary. On Saturday, Brenli and Scott started the day by eating brunch and walking through downtown OKC. After that, Scott had planned to go rock climbing at Climb OKC. Brenli was curious that the big moment may have been approaching, but after speaking to multiple family members, and Scott claiming his parents were on their way to Phoenix, AZ, she quickly realized there was no way it could be happening that weekend. That night, Scott and Brenli got ready and grabbed a drink at the hotel bar before heading to dinner. Scott had planned for dinner at Louie's on Lake Hefner, which was a location that meant a lot to both of them. As they got out of the car and started walking, a woman and her boyfriend approached them and begged to take photos of them for their photography portfolio. Naturally wanting free pictures, they agreed. The photographer suggested they move closer to the lighthouse, but once they were only a few feet away, Brenli caught on to what was happening. With flowers, candles and photos of them staged in front of the Lake Hefner Lighthouse, Scott got down on one knee and Brenli said the easiest "YES!" possible, while their family and friends watched and cheered from the hill behind them. Later that night, everyone said their goodbyes. Little did Brenli know that once they got back to the hotel, all of their closest friends and family members would be waiting to celebrate.
