Katie organized a young adult hot chocolate social event between the local parishes, and Matt had just moved to town and was looking forward to getting involved in the community. After hot chocolate a few people went to dinner, and Katie ended up joining the group at Matt's house where they all chatted until 4am. Unfortunately Matt still had to go for a training run in the morning, which he did not miss. After hanging out many times over the next couple of months including an awkward trip to Monterey after all their friends flaked, they became a couple. A year later in the midst of a pandemic, they had a scavenger hunt which ended with a ring and a proposal on the back lawn of their church!
