Well, we’ve been best friends since the day we met back in August of 2018! Over the coarse of 2 years we started to really get to know each other, which only ever made us better friends. But one extremely cheesy Valentine’s Day later in 2020 we decided to take our relationship to the next level, and we had our first date at Waffle House! The date went great! But that year… oh boy, did we have our challenges, people tried to split us up, school and work schedules kept us busy and apart, and then… COVID!!! We did everything we could to try to see each other in such tough times, sitting in our cars yelling through a house window just to talk, FaceTime through the night while we slept, “accidental” meet ups that were totally unplanned… then we decided to seriously talk about the future of our relationship, do we desire to be a husband or wife? Do we want to be parents? Would our families blend together? Do we share priorities? Are we putting God first? For all we knew the world was about to be wiped out and the end of the world would fall upon us. We weren’t sure if we would even have time to get married before doomsday, so we decided to live together. It might be frowned upon by some, but it felt like the only option we had in the time we thought we had left. After all, what more could we want than to be together in each other’s arms if we were to be facing the end of times. Well, luckily God had better plans for us, as you can tell the end of the world did not arrive, and our relationship did blossom! In fact our love was an entire garden at that point. We knew we were going to love each other FOREVER! And there was no rush for us to prove that to others, they would see, they would know. Then in October of 2023, the time had come, it felt right, it made sense… We had our first vacation with just the two of us! Emerald Isle, a beautiful little island not too crowded this time of the year. We didn’t have any plans, just wanted to enjoy this time together, then Brenden had mentioned wanting to drive from one end of the island to the other so we could see the entirety of it! So, we filled up our tank and headed out! Skyler had found a historic landmark that we could explore at the end of the island to “have an excuse” to be there so we didn’t look like trespassers! After a long adventure in the nature reserve exhibits, we headed out to the fort, a very friendly tour guide offered to take us up on the roof to get the best view, once we got up there Brenden suggested we take a few “tourist pics” to have a beach trip photo album… So there we are classic photos, then we get goofy, awkward prom photo, fake engagement… Woah, wait you brought a ring pop hahaha!! That’s great! “Keep going” what?… okay… *opening of the ring pop* why is it white? It’s supposed to be Blue Raspberry… “Keep going”… what? … there’s a hinge? The sucker opens??? WAIT WHAT!?!? An actual ring??? “Skyler, will you marry me?” From that point forward, the two of us have been making plans to become one! Watch us make this commitment to each other in person, in thought, or live online! ~ November 22 2024 ~
