Flight
Welcome to Sabah, the land below the wind! If you're looking for flights, the main connections are via Hong Kong (HKG), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Taipei (TPE) or Singapore (SIN).
Travel Note
We'd love to have you join us here in Kota Kintabalu! Here is what you'll need to get in: 1. Download the MySejahtera app and fill out the pre-departure form. 2. Upload your proof of vaccination. 3. If you're partially vaccinated or unvaccinated, you can still come in! You just need to spend 5 days suffering in a government approved quarantine hotel.
Travel Note
If you're planning on parking at the Marriott hotel, skip the parking lot on the 3rd floor and go straight up to the 5th floor. From there, you can directly access the Grand Ballroom via a private escalator.
Travel Note
If you're coming to KK, the best way to travel around is by Grab - Malaysia's version of Uber. It's cheap and relatively easy to find a car. Download the app before you arrive. Also, don't ever take taxis in KK. They are pretty much guaranteed to rip you off.
Travel Note
It wouldn't be a COVID wedding if there weren't COVID guidelines in place. Please note the venue requires proof of double vaccination with a Health Canada approved vaccine in order to attend. A negative COVID test is not acceptable. There are also other COVID guidelines in place, such as masks and social distancing, but we can deal with that when you arrive. We fully understand that some of you may still have some reservations about gathering at this time, and we empathize with you. We would love to have you celebrate together with us, but we also care about your health and well-being and we respect your decision.
Travel Note
For our international guests, Canada has announced that the border is open to vaccinated individuals! You can find more info at the link above. Please note that you will be required to undergo a COVID test when you arrive. If you test positive you will have to quarantine, but if you test negative, then the quarantine will not be necessary. But please plan accordingly. We suggest that you arrive 2 weeks before the wedding date, just in case. Please view the link below to find out more information.
Travel Note
We're so excited to be having our wedding in the Distillery District! This historic location has plenty of shopping, galleries, cafes, and other things to occupy your afternoon! Don't forget that the Toronto Christmas Market will also be going on at that time, so feel free to visit the market before the ceremony! Just make sure you don't snack too much, because we've got dinner plans as well!
Travel Note
To get around Toronto, the TTC is a good choice for getting to the city centre, as well as the wedding. Get a Presto day pass if you're planning on making more than 4 single trips in a day. If you're planning to come to the wedding via TTC, get off at King Station, take the 504 King East streetcar and get off at the Distillery Loop. From there, it's about an 8 minute walk through the Distillery District to get to the venue. Remember to grab your transfer slip so you can get on the streetcar later!
Travel Note
Airship 37 is located right beside the Historic Distillery District, which has multiple parking garages and street parking available.
Flight
Welcome to Toronto! Most flights coming in to Toronto will land at Lester B. Pearson Airport. From here, you can take the Union Pearson Express (UP) train to Union Station for a mere $12.35 (one way) in 25 minutes. Probably the better way to get downtown if you're staying in Downtown Toronto. Otherwise, Uber will cost $40-50 to get from the airport to Yonge Street.
Rental Car
If you're going to drive, rent your car from the airport. Toronto is a large, sprawling city, and Uber can get expensive. As a note, Toronto is very strict on driving. If you don't have a Canadian driver's license, please make sure to get an International Driver's Permit before arriving in Toronto. Also, drinking and driving carries severe penalties, so please don't drive if you're going to drink.
