The Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival is an annual festival held in Zilker Park over two consecutive three-day weekends. In 2019, the Festival will begin on Friday, October 4th and end on Sunday, October 13th. This is an excellent way to spend your Sunday after the wedding. The lineup should be announced sometime in late summer and ticket sales will begin shortly thereafter.
Bring your bathing suit! Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin - Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming. Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited sunbathers who turned heads in the 1970s.
This place is great, both for obvious reasons, and because the beer is good. The East Side taproom has a solid selection of local craft beer, plenty of bar seating, and a shady patio to sip a beer and enjoy the afternoon. It’s cozy and comfortable. If you’re in the mood for something else, they have coffee and wine. Once you've built up an appetite, Lazarus offers tacos, sandwiches, and (of course) queso.
Built in 1886 as the showplace of a cattle baron, The Driskill remains a landmark of legendary Texas hospitality. From the dozens of columns brilliantly lining the lobby, to the spotless marble floors, the hotel is gorgeous. When you first walk into The Driskill Hotel, you wouldn’t think it’s haunted, but if you listen carefully, its ghosts will tell you otherwise.
