Straight out of college and looking for a job in NYC, Kayla found herself with an offer to be an ad sales assistant at FOX Networks Group. When she wanted to learn more about the role, Kayla's dad connected her with a family friend, Blake, who had been in the industry. When Blake learned of the position he told her, “A guy I work with, his son is an ad sales assistant at FOX. Let me have him connect you two." Little did Kayla know, the “guy Blake worked with" was Dave Morris, her soon-to-be father-in-law. Dave connected Brendan and Kayla and the two exchanged what they call “formal emails” with one another. When Kayla eventually accepted the role, Brendan told her to enjoy her last week of freedom before the real world. After starting, Kayla and Brendan grabbed lunch together and a whole new chapter of their lives began. The rest they say, is history.
It was the first nice Friday in NYC in a while, 75 and sunny. Kayla was excited for the weekend and looking forward to spending the night with Brendan's family. She had thought she was going out to celebrate Kate's birthday (one of Kayla's bridesmaids!), and every little piece added up. While walking to the “before dinner drinks spot" Kayla and Brendan made a right down their favorite street in the West Village, Leroy Street. Kayla made a comment “oh, Leroy!" Brendan looked up and acted upset, “ugh we must have overshot it, it’s one street up from Leroy.” Kayla was frustrated by having to walk an extra street in uncomfortable shoes and preventive bandaids, until they stopped about halfway down. Brendan got down on one knee and Kayla made the easiest yes! Around the corner at a restaurant decorated so beautifully was both families to enjoy dinner together. After dinner and drinks, they made their way to a rooftop bar to celebrate with additional family and close friends. It was a picture perfect night!
