Captain Shawn’s Rental
For a relaxing day on the water, Captain Shawn’s Rental is a great local option right in Chisago City. They offer pontoon boats, fishing boats, and other lake gear—perfect for cruising the Chisago Lakes chain with friends and family. The “chain of lakes” refers to 5 connected lakes (including North Center, South Center, and Chisago Lake) that you can travel between by boat, giving you plenty of space to explore. Whether you’re looking to swim, fish, or just enjoy a sunny afternoon on the water, it’s an easy and fun way to experience the beauty of the area.
Taylors Falls Canoe & Kayak Rental
The St. Croix River is one of the cleanest and most beautiful riverways in the country. Canoe or kayak this tranquil, family-friendly stretch of the river for a few hours, half the day, all day, or a few days. The Taylors Falls Canoe & Kayak Rental Base is located inside the Minnesota Interstate Park in Taylors Falls (15-20 minutes from Chisago City).
Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours
Taylors Falls Scenic Boat Tours has operated as a family business since 1906. Since opening, tourists by the thousands have enjoyed the scenic beauty of the world-famous Dalles of the St. Croix River by the huge paddlewheel boat. On your tour, you’ll learn about the area’s history and the unique rock formations left behind as the glaciers retreated thousands of years ago! In addition to our daily boat tours there are other cool events on the boats like live music and wine tasting.
Winehaven Winery
Sip and savor at this beautiful family-owned winery overlooking the rolling vineyards right in Chisago City. They offer tastings, local cheese pairings, and even honey wine made from their own hives (yes, bees!). It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon with friends, a little pre-wedding celebration, or a romantic sunset glass of wine.
Nordic Harbor
Best cocktails in town bar far are found at the Nordic Harbor Rooftop Bar. They also offer boat rentals for the the day/evening if you are looking for a little more fun.

If you’re looking for a cozy local spot to start your day, North Woods Coffee Shop is a must-visit. It's a family owned coffee shop right in town and it’s the perfect place to grab a fresh cup of coffee, a latte, or a quick breakfast before heading out to explore the area.

Clutch Golf Club is a fun indoor golf and sports simulator experience located in Chisago City. Whether you’re an avid golfer or just looking for a relaxed activity with friends and family, it’s a great place to grab a drink, play a round, or hit up the arcade.
Mall of America®
Indeed, the biggest mall in America. Just 3 miles (about 5–10 minutes) from the Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP) Airport, this iconic destination is more than just a mall! With over 500 stores, an indoor theme park, an aquarium, mini golf, and countless restaurants, it’s a full-day adventure (and a great way to escape the summer heat or a rainy afternoon). You can even hop on the Blue Line light rail from the airport straight to the mall—no car needed!
Wild Mountain
Wild Mountain is a great local spot to get outside and have some fun, only 20 minutes from Chisago City. In the summer, you can enjoy the water park, alpine slides, go carts, and more!
Valleyfair and Soak City
Located about 45 minutes from Chisago City, Valleyfair is Minnesota’s largest amusement park and a great option for guests looking to make a weekend out of their trip. The park features roller coasters, thrill rides, family attractions, live entertainment, and Soak City Waterpark
