Brendan and Adriana met in 2015, as young teenagers on the local school bus of Hazelwood North. There was a lot of eye contact, but not one of them had the courage to make the first conversation, until the day of Adriana's 16th birthday. This is when Brendan finally broke the ice and made the first move and wished her Happy Birthday. Their conversations continued to blossom, leading to a first date at the cinemas. With months of time spent together, Brendan finally asked Adriana to be his girlfriend. Who would of thought nearly 10 years later, we would be getting married in the most amazing place Airlie Beach.

In December 2023, Brendan planned to take Adriana away on a surprise getaway for her Christmas present. Prior to this getaway there were months of coordination between the weather, finding a beautiful place to stay and where to hide the ring. With all these plans finally set, Brendan told Adriana to pack a bag and ditch her work break up. During the travels to the Yarra Valley, Adriana kept on asking lots of questions 'Where are we going?', 'What are we doing?' and Brendan was blunt with his replies. They finally checked into their accommodation and rested up for the night. Brendan's last comment before bed was 'Be ready by 3am tomorrow'. With a very early start to the morning, they got into the car and drove to the meeting point, again Adriana asked a lot of questions and Brendan was quiet. Once they arrived Adriana was told she was going on a hot air balloon, this was a bucket list for her and thought this was her Christmas present. Adriana was confused why they had their own private hot air balloon. She was told to stand right next to the basket and hold a rope while it inflates, these instructions were very vigilant and strict. After the balloon was inflated we were asked if we wanted a photo and Brendan said yes eagerly. We walked forward, Adriana thinking they were just getting photos when Brendan said stop turn around, as Adriana turned around she seen the wording on the hot air balloon 'Will you Marry me?' as she spun back around Brendan was down on one knee with her dream ring.
