Brenda, born and raised in Oregon, moved to Chicago in December 2019 to support her local church. After two years of navigating life through a pandemic, she was ready to return to the West Coast—until life had other plans. She decided to stay and moved to the suburbs, where she met Omar, a Chicago native, in college. A genuine friendship quickly began to grow. On October 6, 2023, Omar asked Brenda to be his girlfriend. Then, on June 20, 2025—while Brenda was visiting Oregon for what she thought was her mom’s birthday—Omar flew in and surprised her with a proposal! Now, they’re counting down the days to say "I do" this fall—on October 17.
