Thomas Stone National Historic Site preserves one of the four homes managed by the National Park Service that were once lived in by signers of the Declaration of Independence. The park is situated in historic Southern Maryland, within an easy drive from Washington, D.C. The first capital of Maryland in St. Mary's City is a short drive to the southeast and the current capital, Annapolis, is a short drive to the northeast.
