We're getting married!

Paul and I met through our mutual friends, Jeff and Kija. Paul visited Denver often for Phish and Disco Biscuit shows, we knew of each other, but hadn’t spent much time together. The most memorable meeting being at Kija and Jeff’s wedding in 2014, where we bonded over our love for the Chicago White Sox. After seeing each other at the wedding, Paul says he made it a point to get in touch with me whenever he came to town. It wasn’t until I moved to Southeast Asia that Paul finally decided to ask me out! Paul was facebook stalking me and saw that I’d be flying into Chicago on a trip home for the holidays. He asked me if I wanted to get together and we decided on a competitive game of bowling, for what we have now dubbed our “first date”. I must have impressed him with my bowling skills because he flew to Thailand and Bali for our “second date”. We have been competing on the lanes and adventuring ever since! We will celebrate our 5th Bowliversary in December 2020.

I had planned on proposing on her birthday on 2/4/20, because the previous year I did not make Kelly a cake on her birthday, which she was very angry about. During a Thanksgiving trip to Chicago we looked at rings, and while Kelly was meeting a friend later that day, I went back out and bought the ring. My plan was still to wait until her birthday, but once I got that ring in the mail (yes, they mailed it to me), I wanted to get it out of my hands and on her finger as fast as possible. We had a trip planned to Fort Lauderdale for a Disco Biscuits show, and I decided that’s where I would propose. On Friday the 13th, I proposed to her on the beach. She was quite surprised as I had been telling her for months it wasn’t going to happen in 2019. Not sure why, but she said yes.
