We met in 2018 at Salt Camp during Texas A&M orientation. On the very first day, during dance lessons, I noticed Bree—and right away, something clicked. Later that night, dressed as “Grillin’ Dads” and “Soccer Moms,” I worked up the nerve to ask her to dance to Tennessee Whiskey as she attempted to run away to the water cooler. We stumbled across the floor, and from that moment on, we were inseparable. I introduced Bree to my family before we were even officially dating, because I just knew. One of our earliest memories was sharing burgers topped with mac & cheese at Gypsy Joint while Bree demolished a cake ball—our first photo together from that night now hangs on our wedding website. From day one, we made a rule: Rule #1—always stay together. Whether it was taking out the trash, two-stepping at Hurricane Harry’s, or heading off on spontaneous adventures, we stuck side by side. College was filled with small, magical moments: people-watching in the dining hall, late-night poke bowls before Northgate, late study sessions, and countless drives just to see where the road led. We learned that every adventure—big or small—was better together, from trips to Iceland to unexpected encounters with moose in Rocky Mountain National Park. Moving to Colorado was our first major leap of faith. It was exciting, scary, and deeply meaningful—leaving family behind to build a life that was entirely ours. From camping inches away from elk and moose, to gasping for air on 12,000-foot hikes, to city days spent in coffee shops and thrift stores, every moment confirmed that this was our life. Over the years, we’ve grown together and fallen deeper in love. Bree’s kindness, courage, and steady support made even the hardest moments feel safe. I’ve admired her strength through field seasons in the wilderness and her pursuit of a master’s degree. Bree here: I knew early on that Joey was special—genuine, adventurous, endlessly kind, and fully present in everything he does. He shows me how to truly live life, and I couldn’t imagine a better partner. Now, in Boulder, Colorado, we’re ready for our greatest adventure yet: marriage. From two nervous college kids almost 8 years ago in silly costumes to building a life full of love, laughter, and shared dreams, we can’t wait to keep exploring the world together—always sticking together, just like we always have – Rule #1.
