Kayaking Morro Bay is one of our very favorite parts of living on the Central Coast! It is such an important part of our lives that Bre proposed to Glenda while taking our kayaks across the bay. Morro Bay provides calm waters that make it easy to kayak, even for beginners. A truly magical place, Morro Bay is the perfect spot to view sea otters, sea lions, and a myriad of birds while taking in the famous Morro Rock and the serene national estuary. Follow one of Bre and Glenda's most common dates by paddling across the bay to the sand spit for a picnic on your own private beach. There are plenty of companies to rent kayaks from in Morro Bay, but we especially like The Kayak Shack.
Montana de Oro State Park may be our very favorite place in the world. In fact, it was a camping trip here that inspired us to move to the central coast, and continues to be our favorite spot to hike. If you've never been, we recommend walking the Bluff Trail, a gorgeous 4 mile flat walk overlooking the ocean. For our more adventurous friends, Bre's favorite hike is a loop of Coon Creek and Oates Peak trails (text her for more details).
Paso Robles is home to some of the very best wine in the state! With over 200 wineries to choose from (including our wedding venue), from gorgeous oak studded vineyards to tasting rooms in downtown Paso Robles, there is something for everyone. Some of the most famous wineries include Austin Hope, Justin, Daou, and Eberle.
A true spectacle, Sensorio is an immersive art exhibit comprised of easy paths through more than 100,000 glowing bulbs expanding over acres of rolling hills, "like bioluminescent flowers from a jewel-toned fantasy land". Exploring Sensorio was one of our favorite dates last year, and is just minutes from our wedding venue.
Home to over 40 businesses, including award-winning wineries, innovative craft breweries, and artisanal distilleries, Tin City is the perfect place to get a taste of Paso Robles, all within walking distance of each other!
One of our favorite spots in Paso Robles, 1122 is a hidden cocktail lounge serving incredible cocktails (along with beer and wine) in a 1930’s style speakeasy. Complete with a secret entrance, 1122 was named the Best Bar in the County and also named on the list of TOP 50 Hidden Bars in the World!
Perhaps the most iconic attraction of the central coast, Hearst Castle a 115-room home complete with 3 guest houses and stunning grounds. Created by W.R. Hearst and architect Julia Morgan, Hearst Castle is a true marvel of art and architecture. Book a tour through CA State Parks to explore this piece of history. Drive 5 miles north of Hearst Castle to observe the largest mainland elephant seal rookery in the world! View these incredible, 5,000 lb animals for free just steps from the parking lot. Who knows, you may even see Bre working here on your visit!
