Book early to visit during their holiday Night Lights events. It is truly a magical experience and we have enjoyed it with my family on multiple occasions.
One of Breanna's best friends, Yvette, is a ranger and educator here! They offer amazing museum type education on Florida's natural ecosystems and wildlife. Check out the 4-mile long Wildlife Drive for wildlife galore and the best place to experience what it means to live on a barrier island.
Check out the gardens and plant area and enjoy the festive holiday lights!
One of my best friends swears by this place and I'd happily recommend it to any family and friends! She even said her grandma loved it, so no excuses! Enjoy Florida's everglades by airboat and keep an eye out for some amazing wildlife.
We love "hiking" here but in reality, you're just walking on a beautiful boardwalk through an amazing cypress tree slough. Amazing wildlife and amazing views!
Want to see some manatees during the winter? Check out this place! There is even a live manatee cam for home viewing. Manatees congregate here during the cold months due to the warm water from the power plant. Launch or rent a kayak and you may have some manatees come right up to you.
Captain Brian is a local legend and his boat charters are the best you could ask for! Go shelling, explore our barrier islands and enjoy a day on the ocean.
We love going here for shark tooth hunting! Use a sifter to sift and grab shells/shark teeth right where the waves crash in the water and you will find some good ones. Casperson Beach is the best, but is closed due to hurricane damage. We usually get there early and walk to the right once you get to the beach
Wide open space, a great brewery, and a farm where kids (and adults) can enjoy feeding some animals. This farm-to-table (tap) experience is definitely one for the books.
A great place to watch the game and a true Buffalo Bills themed bar (Go BILLS!) with some of the best chicken wings we've ever had
One of our bridesmaids, Jorden, is the Associate Director of Education here. This is the only museum in the US devoted to shells and mollusks! There are amazing aquarium exhibits, a touch tank, and a great hall of shells.
Breanna volunteers with Rookery Bay for shark tagging and fisheries trawling research. She also assists local biologists with boating surveys of various shorebird and seabird habitat. Rookery Bay has gardens, hiking trails, an interactive aquarium, and more!
Breanna is on the board here and very passionate about their work. The nature center has everything from planetarium shows to educational programming, non-releasable captive wildlife, a butterfly garden, and hiking trails.
