Sometimes God uses the unexpected to bring two people together, and in our case, it was a flat tire in Tahoe. Dom worked with our friend Dylan, and one weekend Dylan and Allie found themselves stranded after a fairly treacherous Tahoe hike due to a flat tire with no spare on a Sunday. Naturally, Dylan called the one person he knew would drop everything to help…Dom. Without hesitation, Dom drove 5 hours to Tahoe to rescue them. For the next week, Allie couldn't stop talking about the kindness of Dylan's friend Dom and what a selfless heart he had for showing up for them without a second thought. At the time, Allie was only home briefly before heading back to medical school, so the sisters planned a night at the fair together. Allie then asked if our friend Dylan could join them…but then came the follow-up: “Dylan wants to bring his friend Dom.” “Sure,” Breanna said, thinking nothing of it. Before heading out, the sisters grabbed their Cabela’s camouflage sweatshirts because even August nights in Sonoma County can get cold. On the drive there, curiosity finally got the best of Breanna and she asked to see who this mysterious “Dom” guy was. The second she saw his Instagram profile, panic set in. Of course he was a camo-wearing hunting guy. Immediately she thought, oh no... he's going to think I wore camouflage because of him. Allie reassured her that everyone wears camo and it wouldn’t be suspicious or weird. A few hours later, Dylan and Dom arrived at the fair to take them to the monster truck show. The very first thing Dom did when he saw Breanna was dramatically place a hand over his chest and sigh, “Camo”. Breanna immediately laughed and acted completely clueless, pretending she had no idea he was into camo at all. If you ask him today, he'll swear she wore it for him. The flirting started immediately, and the two were basically attached at the hip all night. At one point during the monster truck show, it got cold, and Dom insisted Breanna needed another jacket. He walked all the way back to the truck to get one and ended up missing most of the show. Feeling bad, Breanna apologized, but Dom just shrugged and said, “I honestly couldn't care less about the show. I'm just enjoying talking with you.” Somewhere between the monster trucks, fair food, nonstop conversation, and bullying the boys into riding the Hammerhead ride, something unexpectedly real started to form. On the way out of the fair, they passed the mechanical bull. Since the girls got to choose the fair ride, the boys insisted everyone take a turn on the bull. With their competitive streaks fully activated, the Soto sisters held on for dear life and definitely beat the boys' times. They still have the videos to prove it! To top off a night that Breanna didn't want to end, everyone grabbed candy apples before heading home. As they walked back to the truck, Dom opened Breanna's door like a true gentleman, earning himself some major points. Secretly, she wondered when he was going to ask for her number. Just before she climbed in he asked, "Can I get your Snapchat?" Breanna immediately thought oh boy, this guy must be a player. As it turned out, it was another one of God's little surprises. When she got home and started scrolling through snapchat stories, she was shocked to discover that Dom had posted a video of her riding the mechanical bull on his snapchat story. What guy posts a girl the very first night they meet? At that point, she was convinced she had definitely stolen his heart and couldn't help but smile at the thought that he wanted to show off who he'd spent the evening with. In honor of where some of our favorite memories began, there will be a mechanical bull at the reception. So don't forget your boots and your yee-haw! What Breanna thought would be a casual night at the fair, and what Dylan and Allie knew was the perfect matchmaking plan, somehow turned into the beginning of their love story. And now a surely God designed love story.
