The Funk Zone is Santa Barbara’s newest "it" neighborhood providing wine, dining, shopping, and art. Nestled off of lower State St, you can find over 20 wine tasting rooms, award-winning microbreweries, hip eateries, and a vast collection of artisan shops.
We recommend a self guided tour to take in the beautiful history and architecture of the courthouse and gardens. Best part is the 360 views available once you reach the top of the clock tower!
One of our absolute favorite activities in Santa Barbara is biking along the Cabrillo bike path! It is a flat, 4.5 mile ride along the coast starting at Stearns Wharf (at the end of State st) and leads to Butterfly Beach. We recommend packing a water, snack and towel (most bikes have baskets) and setting up a nice spot at Butterfly Beach to take in the views before biking back!
The top spot in Santa Barbara for shopping and strolling with the best dining options all on one beautiful street leading straight to the beach!
A bike path bordered by flowers drawing butterflies runs along this sandy beach with scenic views. Located just south of Downtown Santa Barbara in Montecito, Butterfly Beach is a favorite of locals for sunbathing, biking and beach walking.
The locals call it Hendry's Beach, a place to meet for breakfast or a cocktail at sunset, stroll or jog the sandy shore, watch for whales, fish or ride the wild surf.
BRIDLEWOOD ESTATE WINERY - Guests can gather at one of the handcrafted barrel tables or enjoy their wine by the fountain in the sunny courtyard. As a bonus to the experience, the tasting room also offers interactive educational programs. SUNSTONE VINEYARDS & WINERY - Sunstone is known for its Rhone varietals, including Viognier. In accompaniment to your tasting, guests can also enjoy a gourmet lunch, turning your tasting into the ultimate picnic experience. RUSACK WINERY - Once you arrive at the winery, we suggest you find a spot on their massive deck. You are treated to breathtaking views and get the added benefit of enjoying a bottle of wine while taking it all in. FOXEN VINEYARD AND WINERY - This Santa Ynez winery has two great tasting rooms for you to visit. We are partial to the historic "shack", but both spaces offer a great experience for wine travelers. Foxen has a reputation for making high-quality white wines, but they produce some fantastic reds as well.
Outside of what else is listed, there are also plenty of outdoor activity options for enjoying all of the beauty Santa Barbara has to offer, such as: - Hiking (Douglas Family Preserve, Inspiration Point, Seven Falls) - Paddle-boarding (Rentals, both guided and self guided available at Paddle Sports Center, www.paddlesportsca.com) - Kayaking (Rentals, both guided and self guided available at Paddle Sports Center, www.paddlesportsca.com)
Known as one of the world’s most beautiful zoos, the Santa Barbara Zoo is located on 30 acres of lush botanic gardens overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Andree Clark Bird Refuge, and Santa Ynez Mountains.
Enjoy the seaside sights and sounds of Stearns Wharf, one of Santa Barbara's most iconic landmarks with plenty of restaurants to choose from and specialty shops to peruse.
