Braydon was in Chicago to meet his newborn nephew, Hank, when fate took an unexpected turn. Kali was meant to be in New Orleans, but her flight got canceled. So, Braydon decided to pass the time by half-heartedly swiping through Bumble profiles. Meanwhile, Kali’s older sister, Ashley, helped her create a Bumble profile and got her started swiping too. When Kali and Braydon matched, what began as lighthearted messaging quickly turned into six months of constant texting, calls, and FaceTime dates. In June 2022, Braydon traveled to Chicago to meet Kali in person. Just two weeks later, Kali took a leap of faith and drove 10 hours solo to Tulsa to visit him. From that moment on, their connection only grew stronger. They lived in a small apartment in downtown Chicago, where Kali shared with two roommates. Then came another big leap when they moved to Sioux Falls (aka Stank Falls), a place they humorously dubbed “the worst place on Earth”—yet, they realized they loved being together no matter where they were (goodbye, Sewer Falls). In February 2024, their adventure took them to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where in the midst of snowflakes and a remote road between Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, Braydon proposed. Now, back in Illinois and closer to their families, they’re excited to continue their journey together—one full of love, laughter, and endless adventures.
