The good old days, still happening.
We met through mutual friends during the summer before 6th grade, two kids about to start middle school together and both a little nervous about the unknown. Caden came from catholic school and I came from public school, but somehow we found comfort in each other almost immediately. Between figuring out new hallways, learning how to open lockers, and finding our way through those early years, we slowly became inseparable. We grew up side by side. We graduated middle school together, then high school together, leaning on one another through every triumph, heartbreak, change, and growing pain along the way. Somewhere between football games, late night drives, and ordinary moments that never felt ordinary to us, our story became home. Our classmates even voted us prom king and queen, something that still feels sweet all these years later. After graduation, we started over again together at Kent State University. New school, new routines, our first apartment, and eventually, our little cat Winnie. Every new chapter brought unfamiliarity, but never uncertainty, because no matter where life took us, we always had each other. Now, after nearly eleven years together, we’re beginning our favorite chapter yet. We don’t know exactly what the future holds, but we do know one thing for certain: it will always be together.
