Conner and Lauren met in a church youth group in 2017 when they were 12 years old. However, their first initial meeting with one another was quite awkward. Lauren's friend had gotten up to go get a drink of water to go with her cup of Goldfish snack crackers, and her friend told Lauren, "Don't let anyone steal my goldfish." Lauren apparently took this job quite seriously because shortly after her friend left, Conner went to sit down on the couch, in the seat next to where the cup of goldfish was sitting. As Conner reached his hand out to lower himself onto the couch, Lauren thought that he was trying to take her friend's goldfish, so naturally, Lauren snatched the cup away very quickly and yelled, "NO!!" straight to his face. Conner was quite perplexed and looked at Lauren very weirdly while asking, "What??". Lauren then felt very awkward. "I thought you were trying to steal her goldfish," Lauren said to him. "No...I'm just sitting down, if thats ok?" Conner replied. Lauren was very embarrassed at this point and simply said, "yeah sorry," and then avoided him for the rest of the day. The two quickly found out that they had mutual friends in the youth group and they have been best friends ever since. To this day, Conner still teases Lauren about the fact that the first words she ever said to him were yelled at him!
