Chris and Stephanie met August 2019 at a nursing home where he worked as a nurse and she worked as a physical therapist. Chris would constantly visit the PT gym and "bring patients in" while trying to get to know her. He asked her out multiple times over months and she would always jokingly respond with "jamas y nunca" ("never ever") and said she would never date a coworker. Over those months they became good friends instead. Eventually Chris moved on to another job. They both continued their friendship and became closer. Being that Chris was no longer considered a coworker, Stephanie finally decided to give him a chance and the rest is history.

As Chris was planning the proposal, he remembered Stephanie mentioning that it would be special having her family present. After months of preparation he planned a surprise dinner with 15 of their closest family and friends. He told Stephanie a few weeks before that he wanted to spend a day together, get mani pedis, and go to a wine tasting at one of their favorite steakhouses where his friend works. On January 22, 2022, their family and friends got to the steakhouse and were seated in the back room where they waited for the couple. When Chris and Stephanie arrived, the host (who was in on it and pretending not to know Chris) asked "how many?" and Chris said "for 2." They were then taken to the back where everyone was quietly waiting for the surprise. Once they entered, Stephanie was shocked to see everyone there and before she could process what was happening, Chris got down on one knee and proposed. Without hesitation, she said.. YES.
