In October 2017, Brauna and Kyra first crossed paths at Baylor University’s Homecoming weekend through a mutual friend. They barely spoke to each other but there was a looming curiosity that foreshadowed new possibilities. Fast forward to March 2018, when Kyra slid in Brauna’s DMs and asked for her number. Brauna, who was at crossroads in life professionally and emotionally, was so flustered by Kyra’s gesture she ended up sending the wrong number, off by just one digit. After a few days, they figured it out and were able to agree to a first date, a dinner in Round Rock, originally planned for Pappadeaux’s but after the notice of an hour plus wait they quickly agreed to try Razzoo’s instead. They talked at ease for hours. Despite living states apart from each other--Kyra in California and Brauna in Texas--they were both eager for a second date and luckily Kyra was currently based in Texas for work. She wasted no time and got creative, asking Brauna to rank her level of adventure. They ended up taking a 2.5-hour road trip from Waco to Go Ape Ziplines. Brauna had never been zip-lining and feared heights, something she failed to mention to Kyra when ranking her adventure level. Despite Brauna’s initial panic, including calling her mom upon arrival, the two of them enjoyed every jump, scream and giggle. At dinner afterwards, they cuddled up in a big booth at a restaurant nearby. By then, their curiosity had turned into a spark that would fire up their journey of love. It was just the beginning of more adventures they’d conquer and experience together, it would lead them to where they are now, committing to a life together as the Monroe-Marks family.
