We’re getting married!

Michael and Holly originally met in March 2020 at an English Club meeting at NC State University. Someone during the meeting said something truly unhinged, and Holly turned back to look at Michael, thinking to herself, “I’m literally never gonna see this joker again.” As we all know, March 2020 didn’t become the most social month known to man. Despite not physically meeting again for two more years, Michael and Holly were both published in Windhover Literary Journal’s 2020 edition. Their stories are right next to each other in the magazine. In August 2022, they crossed paths again when they started the MFA program in creative writing at NC State. Michael and Holly got closer as time went on. After countless shared hours chatting in the cubicles, attending basketball games, and taking walks on NC State campus, their friendship got deeper. There’s lots of debate over who “made the first move,” so they’ve decided it was a mutual decision to take the next step. There’s something deeply joyful and right about being in love with your best friend. Michael proposed to Holly on October 28, 2024 after dinner at THE Olive Garden. He told her he had a surprise for her, then gave her a book he had written in. When she looked up from the book, he was on one knee. Michael and Holly feel so blessed to have one another and to have so many people excited to celebrate their love with them soon!
