We met at a Star Wars convention, and it was love at first lightsaber. She arrived as Princess Leia, and I as Han Solo. It would have been kismet…if it were true. In reality, we met in the fall of 2023 thanks to a mutual acquaintance, Hinge. Although neither of us expected to meet our future spouse on a dating app, it turns out the God of the universe can also work through algorithms. Pretty neat. We both desired a relationship built on friendship, and it's amazing how fast it happened. From ice cream to mini golf, from wine to improv, our first dates were filled with laughter, adventure, and meaningful conversation. Just two months after our first date, I asked Lindsey if she wanted to come to Portugal with me. We were having so much fun together the decision felt obvious. Her "yes" became the first of several…the most important of which occurred on December 13, 2024, when I asked Lindsey to marry me. Despite its significance, this story is one of many. We also have stories with each of you. Some date back to childhood; some as recent as this year. But whether you are family or friend, you have played a meaningful role in our lives. Which, of course, is why you're invited. It's hard to think of something more exciting than this: bringing the people we love most in the world together to celebrate a covenant older than time.
