I moved to Minneapolis in the summer of 2018 after graduating from UNC where I was starting my career at General Mills. Little did I know that this new chapter would include meeting my future husband! I met Joey during my very first week on the job. I was taking over his role as the financial analyst for the cereal unit, and he was rotating to a new position as a second year analyst. I was instantly drawn to his charisma and friendly demeanor. We quickly became friends, and to our surprise, discovered we were not only coworkers but also neighbors, living on the same floor in our apartment building, Flux. We bonded over our shared love for our friends and family, our mutual obsession with traveling, and our big dreams for our careers and future. After a little over a year and half of friendship, we began dating and the rest is history! The Proposal - from Joey's perspective I knew early on in my relationship with Meg that I wanted to marry her. She’s my best friend, my partner in crime, and the person whose values and dreams align perfectly with mine. From the very beginning, there was never a doubt in my mind that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. By the end of 2023, I started planning the proposal. The first step was choosing the perfect ring—a task that came with some help from Meg. While she influenced the design, she had no idea how the final product would look. I made sure to keep it hidden in the last place she’d ever think to check: my toolbox. If you know Meg, you know she’s a planner who thrives on details, which made planning the proposal under the same roof as her a real challenge. Keeping things a surprise was no easy feat! But on the day of the proposal, I managed to distract her with the one thing she can never resist—a long walk. While we were out, our good friends and neighbors worked their magic (thanks Sarah and Sam!), transforming our rooftop into the perfect setting for the big moment. When we returned, I claimed there was something broken on the roof and that she needed to check it out. Skeptical but curious, Meg followed me upstairs. As we stepped onto the rooftop, she was greeted by a beautiful setup under the sunset. I dropped to one knee, asked her to marry me, and—spoiler alert—she said yes! We celebrated with champagne and spent the evening talking about all the little details I’d been keeping from her. A few days later, we jetted off to France for a two-week romantic getaway, soaking in the joy and excitement of being engaged. And now, here we are, ready to begin the next chapter of our lives together.
