We met at a Kansas future teachers conference hosted in Newton, KS. We went on a few dates in college but ultimately headed different directions, Bradley student teaching in Chicago and me student teaching in Kansas City. In 2020, during the pandemic, Bradley reached back out to me via Facebook message. He was teaching in Chanute and I took a job teaching in Wichita. A few long-distance months later we decided to take the risk. After a few months of dating, approaching the end of the school year (and the daunting idea of another year long-distance) Bradley moved to Wichita. He's been teaching in Wichita since then, while I've had a few different career crises over the last few years. Ultimately, now, we are living in Wichita with our pets; Arizona the cat, Winnie the dog, and two tarantulas. Bradley is teaching at a Wichita middle school and I'm teaching 4th grade in Newton, KS. We got engaged over the summer, near the Helen Hunt Falls in Colorado, on a family trip. We are excited to get married in May and include our loved ones in the occasion!
Anna and I met in college at a teaching conference and I was so awestruck by her personality and charm that I was willing to try just about anything to get to know her better. So much so, there may be a KNEA video out there with me dressed up as a bumblebee. Anna loves to show off the few pictures she still has of the day. We tried a few dates in college but ultimately went separate ways to start our teaching careers. Mine began in Chanute KS where I joined my parents as educators in the district to ensure no kid could escape without exposure to a Campbell educator! My mom taught in the elementary school, I taught in the middle school, and my dad was beginning his career in the high school as principal the same day mine began as a teacher. It was fun to spend time coaching and teaching the same community of kids my parents had, but during the pandemic I reached out to Anna and we quickly realized the long distance relationship was never really an option for me. After talking for months we decided to try and live together before my 4th year, and her 2nd year teaching started. Since then we have had many shifts in careers for several members of our great big educator family. I however am just finishing my 4th year teaching in Wichita and my 7th year total. Anna has returned to the classroom and is wrapping up her 1st year in Newton KS and her 4th year total. It’s been a great family and life we have begun building over the last few years! I’m so thankful to come home to Anna and our pets every day and it makes me excited to look into the future and think about how many more people’s lives we can be a part of. Thank you for reading this far we both feel it’s important to tell our story from our own perspective. Who knows, maybe some of this will be repeated even a third time as you hear our vows!
