Wedding is Regretfully Postponed!

Family, Friends and Loved Ones, It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the conclusion we will be unable to proceed with our wedding in Viens, France on June 29th. As always Navy life is unpredictable, and now with the Covid-19 Pandemic, we are facing a situation of much uncertainty. Wyatt has been extended again, while on his 2nd deployment aboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) and we have yet to receive word on when the ship will return home. Additionally, we cannot ask any of our guests to put themselves at risk by traveling internationally for our wedding. We are waiting for Wyatts return home to reschedule the wedding, as it is unclear what our future holds and where we will be stationed in the future. Wyatt and Brandy first met in March of 2016 in Pensacola, FL while Brandy was visiting a close friend during her spring break. At the time, Wyatt was training towards becoming an F/A-18 Weapons System Officer and living the life of a true Navy Bachelor. Brought together by a mutual friend, they were first introduced before a night on the town. As the night went on and the crew partook in many libations, Wyatt attempted to teach Brandy how to swing dance. Unimpressed by their lack of rhythm, the two quickly regretted this decision and parted ways that night, never intending to see each other again. Much to their surprise and mutual dismay, the two were paired together to walk down the aisle in their friend’s wedding just six months later. Both Wyatt and Brandy were not happy with this decision but committed to making the best of it. When the wedding finally came, Wyatt stood at the front of the church and watched Brandy walk down the aisle with the most beautiful smile and his opinion quickly began to change. Fortunately for him, Brandy's opinion of Wyatt began to shift over dinner conversation at the reception. Wyatt employed the mother of the bride to swain Brandy into his arms and the rest is history.

Wyatt and Brandy's relationship progressed very quickly. After only a few trips to Virginia Beach, it was apparent to both of them that what they had was special. By the end of 2018, Wyatt had been assigned to VFA-11 and his life was changing rapidly. Despite their uncertain circumstances, the two were determined to keep their relationship a constant. The couple decided to make the trek to Wyoming over the holidays, giving Brandy the opportunity to meet Wyatt's family for the first time. Brandy's best friend was also coming to join them, so they could all celebrate the New Year together on the top of the continental divide. Three stories and overlooking hundreds of thousands of acres, it was a mountaintop retreat. This was the perfect place to "ring" in the New Year. With the roads closed due to massive amounts of snow, they rode snowmobiles to the top of the mountain with sleds, and all the essentials for the New Year's celebrations. Brandy's best friend provided a much-needed distraction (it’s impossible to get anything past Detective Brandy) as Wyatt set forth the perfect plan. As night fell, the group anxiously prepared to watch the ball drop. When the countdown began, Wyatt hid the ring behind his back, got down on one knee, and nervously asked Brandy to marry him just as the clock struck midnight. 2018 started in celebration of a new year and a new beginning, under thousands of stars, at 12,000'
