Jon and Brandy first met at a party hosted by Jon's fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi. While mingling with some friends, Brandy recognized Jon from a class they shared together. Brandy attempted to flag Jon down to get his attention. Completely unaware (according to Jon) he kept on walking by. Later in the evening, Brandy noticed Jon and once again attempted to say hello... he proceeded to keep on walking. The third time Jon passed by Brandy she was determined to speak to him and tried once again to start a conversation. At last! He heard her greeting and stopped for a chat. The two spent the rest of the evening talking and dancing the night away! The following week while in a Gothic Literature lecture, Jon begrudgingly moved to the third row to sit next to Brandy and so their friendship began! Following the lecture, the two would spend a three-hour time block together at a nearby cafeteria twice a week. It was here they discussed their goals, future, and past stories and ultimately, fell in love.

On an annual camping trip with friends and family, Jon devised his plan to propose! He slowly told everyone there his plan and asked for them to keep her distracted. While she played games and chatted with friends, Jon was silently stressing and trying to find the perfect moment for the proposal. It was almost time to change into pirate costumes (always have to have a theme, am I right?) and Jon knew it was now or never. Gathering everyone into a group photo, Jon knelt down and proposed! Brandy quickly said yes and spent the next two hours in shock. They were showered with love, joy, and plenty of champagne from their friends. It was the perfect engagement weekend :)
