We have all seen the story of high school sweethearts’ playout on the tv screen or in books, but for us we have gotten to live the story. The story doesn’t begin in high school though, it truly begins in middle school. In the 7th and 8th grade we had almost every class together which gave us the chance to meet and see each other every day. In the beginning strong feelings were only one-sided, but the beginning of Freshman year of high school turned the page and feelings began, ever so slightly, to become a two-way street. Our first date had quite a bit of build up as it wasn’t your typical dinner and movie, but instead dinner and a dance (Homecoming). While butterflies were felt on both sides, Freshman Homecoming was in fact the beginning of our now nearly 9-year relationship. High school wrapped up and our first challenge set in, a long-distance relationship. As Bailee stayed in state to attend IUPUI for college, Brandt set out west to attend Rockhurst. Throughout college, breaks in school became even more enjoyable as they were the times of the year that we were able to spend together. As our time in college began to hit the back stretch, Brandt knew this relationship was one that was destined for forever. So now, one thing remained, a simple question. The day and moment were all planned out, but one outside force tried to throw a wrench into everything. That outside wrench happened to be a global pandemic, but in fact the plans stood strong, and the question was “popped” at a beautiful park in Kansas City. Bailee happily accepted the proposal and then the wedding plans commenced. Now, we are getting more and more excited for our big day while living in Kansas City. We are both juggling grad school and working full-time jobs all while taking in everything the city has to offer. One could say we are very busy, but we are loving every moment during this adventure together!
