In order to respect the safety guidelines of Covid-19, we said our vows in our own backyard surrounded by our closest family, friends, and dog. It was an amazing day filled with a lot of smiles, laughs and even a few tears (looking at you, Brandon). But now, we’re excited to finally celebrate with all of our friends and family!
Brandon and Kelsey traveled to Chicago, Illinois after she begged him to participate in the Chicago Cubs Race to Wrigley 5k. In the months leading up to the trip, Brandon accidentally gave Kelsey numerous clues that he would be proposing, including asking to borrow a fanny pack and having Melissa ask to send her a picture of Kelsey's dream engagement ring. Even though Kelsey was 99% sure the proposal would happen, and had already told anyone who would listen that it was happening, both were still so nervous! After the race, in front of the Marquee, Kelsey saw a rose and balloon; that's when Brandon got down on his knee. Before she could even get the YES out, someone was in her face with a camera. Brandon's mom, stepdad, and brother, Matthew, along with a couple of friends, surprised her and helped celebrate in Wrigleyville! We ate brunch, hit the batting cages, and even had a couple shots of Malort. It was an amazing day! Go Cubs!
We met while working at Menard's during college. Kelsey had already been working at the Waterloo location when Brandon transferred from Fort Dodge. We became friends and starting hanging outside of work with other coworkers. We both went through a tough time, early in 2015, that made us realize we had created a solid foundation with our friendship to take the next step and start dating. When Brandon graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, he found a job in Cedar Rapids and made the move in May of 2016. Kelsey followed shortly thereafter in August. Being together in a new city solidified their relationship and there was no question that an engagement would come soon.
