Taiwanese Wedding Guide

The Format

~

Our celebration will be a traditional Taiwanese wedding banquet lunch starting around noon. Expect a relaxed, seated meal with a succession of beautifully presented, auspicious dishes served directly to each guest, a few short heartfelt toasts from us and our parents, and a joyful afternoon celebrating together.

Ceremony

~

There's no hour-long ceremony or walking down the aisle. We'll do a brief entrance and some traditional customs, but most of the time is spent eating, drinking, and celebrating together at your table.

The Dress Code

~

Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and respectful for a celebration! Don't be surprised if some Taiwanese guests appear more casually dressed than you might expect at a Western wedding; this is completely normal and appropriate.

The Food

~

Lunch will be served at In Between, the stylish restaurant at Eslite Hotel in Taipei. The menu is a thoughtful Asian-fusion take on the traditional Taiwanese wedding banquet, with classic auspicious flavors and symbolism reimagined with contemporary, refined plating.

Red Envelopes

~

Monetary gifts in red envelopes (紅包) are traditional and customary at Taiwanese weddings.
