After seeking God and realizing how deeply in-love with each other we were, it did not take long to realize we wanted to marry each other. About one week, in fact. We patiently waited for the right moment as we recounted all of our firsts, which each occurred on a Sunday: the first meeting, getting the phone number, the first hangout, dating, the first date… We just knew we had to continue with the tradition by planning a wedding on a Sunday, but little did Tabitha know that she would get proposed to on a Sunday as well. Brandon and Tabitha have always spoken fondly of airports and the niche appreciation of the atmosphere they convey, particularly when not traveling, such as picking up or dropping off others. Keeping this in mind, and planning for Tabitha to expect a Sunday proposal, Brandon, with his groomsman Lane, worked with bridesmaid Natasha to come up with the best surprise for her. On this Sunday, Brandon and Tabitha had no plans to meet up, as Tabitha was spending her Sunday with Natasha for a girls night out. An unsuspecting Tabitha was taken to the airport to “pick up a family member” of Natasha’s, where she would get proposed to. A bowl of soup and a very (I can’t stress this enough) very stubborn Tabitha nearly derailed the entire proposal as Tabitha would not leave the car to help said family member. She was tired, felt underdressed, and was very hungry (clearly, as she was chowing down two bowls of her favorite Panera Bread’s ten vegetable soup in her lap). After much coaxing by Natasha, Tabitha reluctantly agreed to go with her friend. When Natasha led Tabitha to a balcony at the airport behind the Chick-Fil-A, which overlooked arriving and departing flights, where Brandon and Lane were waiting, Tabitha hurriedly ran back inside. Brandon thought it may have been a no, but Tabitha was so focused on looking for this female family member of Natasha’s that she didn’t stop to notice her boyfriend standing in the distance. After Natasha asked for Tabitha to check one more time, she made the connection. The surprise was a success and the rest is history!
We were the answer to each other’s prayers when we met, but we didn’t fully know it right away. However, there certainly was an instant spark between us that never flickered. On a Sunday where neither of us were supposed to be at Restoration Church is when it all started. Tabitha visits here two, maybe three, times a year, and it’s almost always to fill in as worship leader. Rarely does she come and not sing and even rarer does she visit back to back. Following God’s guidance through prayer and a couple months away, Brandon returned in March, just missing her first appearance at Restoration in 2023. Yet, God led Tabitha to visit Restoration again. Tabitha caught Brandon’s eye at the end of the service as he waited to see where everyone was planning on grabbing lunch. It seemed he didn’t have what it took to say hello, because, shortly after, Tabitha greeted him as she asked if he was joining her group for lunch. Brandon said he was, and the group headed off. When Brandon was the last one to arrive at the Culver’s in Trinity, there was only one seat and it happened to be right across from where Tabitha was sitting. After speaking for over an hour, forgetting there were 12 other people around us, we definitely left an impression on one another. A few months went by before Brandon, at the urging of his best man Nick, finally asked Tabitha’s friend at Restoration, Jewel, for her number. The two became instant friends, becoming very close in a short period of time. After waiting on God’s perfect timing, we began dating later that year.
